Woodland teen killed in Sunday crash identified by coroner

The name of the Woodland teen who died from injuries suffered earlier in the week in a car crash has been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Andrew Ladd, 17, was pronounced dead Wednesday night at UC Davis Medical Center.

Woodland police said that about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Ladd and another teen were in a car northbound on Pioneer Avenue between Merritt Circle and Farnham Avenue when the vehicle went out of control.

The white Acura Integra struck trees along the east side of the roadway, causing major damage to the car. Both Woodland teens were taken by ambulance to the medical center.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to Woodland police Sgt. Brett Hancock. Factors being investigated that could have contributed to the crash include excessive speed and damp weather conditions, Hancock said.

The other 17-year-old is still in critical condition, he said. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

A gofundme account has been set up in Ladd’s memory to fund funeral and medical expenses. The fund notes that Ladd was a passenger in the car.
