One man has been charged with murder and another with being an accessory after the fact in the death of an El Dorado County man who was reported missing from his Somerset home in November 2006.
Dave Stevenson, a spokesman for the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, said the remains of Tobias Kaiser have not been found. But based on information gathered by investigators, he said, arrest warrants were issued for Eric Todd Mehlmauer, 47, of Placerville and Ronald Anthony Garcia, 53, of Sacramento in connection with Kaiser’s death. The two men were taken into custody Thursday.
Mehlmauer was arraigned Tuesday on first-degree murder charges, and Garcia was arraigned on a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
A third man, Brian Martin Daly, 31, was also arrested as part of the investigation, but the District Attorney’s Office has not charged him with any offense, Stevenson said.

Kaiser, 48, was last seen Nov. 30, 2006, at his residence near the 7400 block of Perry Creek Road in Somerset. He reportedly was in the process of moving to Modesto.
The complaint filed in El Dorado Superior Court alleges that Mehlmauer shot and killed Kaiser. It also alleges that Garcia knew of the crime, but concealed the information to help Mehlmauer avoid arrest.
Stevenson said he could not elaborate on what led to the arrests, saying the case remains under investigation.
