Woman shot at Stockton Costco by robber

Stockton police are investigating a shooting outside a Costco in which the shopper would not give up her purse to a robber.

Police said that at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Costco parking lot in the 1600 block of East Hammer Lane, a woman in her 50s was confronted by two men who attempted to steal her purse. The woman held onto the purse and was shot by one of the robbers.

The robbers then fled the area. The gunman was described as a black man in his 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a mustache and curly hair. He was wearing a button-up long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

The robbers are believed to have fled northbound on Montauban Avenue in a 2006 two-door, silver-colored Toyota.
