Threat reported at Ponderosa High School
A student was removed Tuesday from Ponderosa High School after a threat was reported at the El Dorado County campus.
A news release from the district was short on details as to the nature of the threat.
“This morning, a situation arose at Ponderosa High School alleging threats made by a student against the school,” the news release stated.
The high school’s resource officer, a sheriff’s deputy, along with school officials, looked into the allegation.
Lt. James Byers, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said he could not discuss details of the case because it involves a juvenile.
School officials and a sheriff’s deputy believed there was enough validity to the information they received to warrant removing a student from campus, but Byers said detectives had not determined whether the threats were credible. He said the matter remained under investigation Tuesday.
