A 13-year-old Sacramento boy was taken to a local hospital Tuesday afternoon after being extricated from under a sedan by the Sacramento Fire Department.

The cause of the collision between the bicyclist and a vehicle near the intersection of 49th and V streets is under investigation by the Sacramento Police Department, said Chris Harvey, a Fire Department spokesman. The collision took place at 3:10 p.m. It took crews about 15 minutes to free the boy, Harvey said.

“They had to be careful how they lifted him because he was tangled up in the bike pretty good,” Harvey said.

He described the boy’s injuries as not life-threatening. The boy was alert and talking through the extrication, the department reported.
