Alhambra Boulevard lanes reopen after fire under overpass

Alhambra Boulevard near Highway 50 reopened Saturday afternoon after a small brush fire in the Alhambra underpass closed the lanes for several hours, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said the fire was caused by debris inside a nook of the concrete overpass.

“Crews had to do some additional work inside the concrete area,” Harvey said.

Harvey said the cause of the fire is unknown, but there are signs of human habitation under the overpass.

“This is likely caused by humans,” Harvey said.

Alhambra Boulevard reopened about 2:30 p.m., said fire department Capt. Dave Lauchner.
