The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office has concluded a second day of searches for a 15-year-old Cameron Park boy who was reported missing Sunday near the north fork of the Cosumnes River.
The Sheriff’s Office received a call at 12:08 p.m. Sunday reporting a missing hiker in the Bucks Bar area, in an area known as the Cosumnes River Gorge. The teenager, who was hiking in the area with family, became separated from the group and was last seen near the river, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The Sheriff’s Office spent several hours Sunday searching for the boy with the assistance of California Highway Patrol aircraft and Pioneer Fire District personnel, as well as the Sheriff’s Office’s ground and water search and rescue teams. Sunday’ search was suspended due to darkness and treacherous water conditions caused by high water from snow runoff, sheriff’s officials said.
The search was expanded Monday using the Sheriff’s Office’s dive team. After searching the area of the river where the youth was last seen, the search has been suspended pending improved search conditions, sheriff’s officials said. They said the boy’s name was not being released at the family’s request.
