Crews battle two-alarm blaze in Arden Arcade
Thirteen residents were displaced and one person was taken to a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a two-alarm fire an Arden Arcade apartment complex, according to fire officials.
The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Howe Avenue. The fire started in a downstairs apartment of the two-story building and spread to other units, said Assistant Chief Brian Shannon of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
He said a woman was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and another person sustained a cut to the hand but was treated at the scene. A firefighter also suffered a minor burn.
Shannon said eight units were damaged. Four were damaged by fire and the other four sustained water damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation
As of about 7 p.m., members of the Red Cross were assisting apartment residents displaced by the fire, Shannon said.
