Sacramento girl, 16, dies in Iowa car crash
A Sacramento girl died of injuries Iowa police said were caused by a crash involving a drunk driver, according to two television reports.
The crash on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, Iowa, about 2 a.m. Saturday killed Jordynn Chapman, 16, of Sacramento.
The teen was a passenger in a car driven by Rose Marie Dillard of Sacramento. Dillard was turning to enter a gas station when a vehicle driven by Christopher Armstrong, 33, of Ankeny, Iowa, crashed into the passenger side of Dillard’s vehicle.
Chapman was injured and later died at a hospital, according to television station KCCI in Des Moines.
Armstrong was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and serious injury by motor vehicle, according to television station WHO.
A gofundme account has been set up for the family. A total of $4,420 had been raised by Tuesday afternoon toward a goal of $7,500.
