Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the fatal shooting of 20-year-old man Tuesday afternoon in the Foothill Farms area.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at 3:45 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 4900 block of Venuto Way, north of Madison Avenue between College Oak Drive and Walnut Avenue, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. They found a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper torso in the front yard of a residence. Deputies began life-saving measures and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and took the victim to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released pending notification of family.
The shooter was described as a man driving a white compact car. It is unclear if the man left the car before shooting the victim or fired shots from the car, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
