Placer County sheriff’s officials report that a man sought in connection with a series of sandwich shop robberies has been arrested in Sacramento.

Frank Eugene Solorzano Jr., 28, of Sacramento was taken into custody by Placer County sheriff’s detectives on Wednesday. Officials say he robbed the Mr. Pickles sandwich shop at Douglas and Sierra College boulevards in Granite Bay on May 31 and a Subway in Colfax on Saturday. Sheriff’s officials said he is a suspect in approximately 15 such robberies in the region, including two in Folsom, over the past few weeks.

The Mr. Pickles robbery in Granite Bay occurred at 10:38 a.m. After the man ordered a sandwich, he told the two employees to open the cash drawer and give him the money. The employees fled out the back of the store, and the man leaned across the counter but was unable to open the register. He then grabbed the tip jar and ran out the door, sheriff’s officials said. No weapon was seen during the robbery.

The Subway robbery in Colfax occurred at 7:40 p.m. This time, sheriff’s officials said, the robber brandished a weapon, but no one was injured.

Solorzano was taken into custody with the assistance of Roseville and Folsom police detectives. He was booked into Placer County jail in Auburn on suspicion of robbery and is being held in lieu of $605,500 bail.
