Detectives investigate fatal stabbing of woman in Rancho Cordova

Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives are investigating as a homicide the death of a woman Tuesday morning at Rancho Cordova apartment.

A call was received at 11:40 a.m. reporting that a woman at an apartment in the 3200 block of Laurelhurst Drive, east of Mather Field Road, had been stabbed and needed immediate medical attention, according to a Rancho Cordova Police Department news release. When officers arrived, they found a woman in her 50s or 60s dead inside the apartment.

Several people who were at the apartment were detained and were being interviewed by detectives Tuesday afternoon. Officials said no arrests had been made.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
