Police investigate report of Rocklin teen approached by older man
Rocklin police are investigating as a "suspicious circumstance" a report of a man who approached a teenage boy in a gated community and asked the youth to get into his vehicle.
Police say the incident occurred Monday inside a gated community near Hillcrest Drive. A teenage boy told officers that the man drove by him and asked if he wanted to get into the vehicle and get something to eat, according to a Police Department news release.
The driver was described as white, about 60 years old, with gray hair and a long gray beard. The vehicle was described a white Jeep Wrangler. No license plate was seen.
The investigation so far has revealed no criminal activity, police said, and they do not believe there is a threat to public safety. Only the one incident has been reported, and police said investigators are trying to validate the suspicious activity by talking to anyone who might be a witness.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Rocklin Police Department at 916-625-5400 and refer to case No. 16-174-6.
