Q: What happened to the suspect in the killing of a Sacramento girl named Macy Murphy?

Espie, Sacramento

A: Christopher Simpson, 17, was arraigned as an adult in the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Macy Murphy, who was found dead May 29 in a car in a south Sacramento County neighborhood.

According to Sacramento Superior Court records available online, Simpson’s next court date is Aug. 12 for a settlement conference.

Murphy was found dead in a vehicle on Inisheer Way, a residential street near Calvine and Elk Grove Florin roads. Residents said they saw the car arrive on a Saturday night and found Murphy dead inside it the following day.

Murphy, a student at Sacramento Academic and Vocational Academy, a charter school, lived in a different part of south Sacramento with her mother. Her mother and grandmother said they did not know Simpson.

Simpson was arrested May 30 at his home.
