One dead, one injured in Stockton shooting

Stockton police reported that two people were shot Saturday night and that one of them died at the scene.

At 8:41 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of Stanislaus and Jefferson streets, about 10 blocks south of the city’s downtown area, the Stockton Police Department said on its Facebook page.

The responding officers found two gunshot victims. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital. Homicide detectives were called in for the investigation.

“At this time there is no motive or suspect information,” police said.
