A car severed a power pole before slamming into a dental office in the Arden Arcade area early this morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 4:02 a.m. when a speeding 2001 Acura TL plowed through a utility pole before continuing into the Western Dental office at 1701 Watt Ave., according to CHP spokesman Officer Chad Hertzell.
Three adult males were seen running from the vehicle, Hertzell said. Shortly after, a big rig dragged the low hanging wires from the utility pole for about a block, causing a power outage for 850 area customers.
“It looked like the Fourth of July,” Hertzell said. “Sparks were flying. It was very dramatic and dangerous. Live wires were everywhere.”

Cara Chatfield, a Sacramento Municipal Utility District spokeswoman, said the outage lasted for about an hour.
Authorities remain on the lookout for the suspects, whom Hertzell said were injured in the crash.
“We’ve put in a call to the local hospitals to be on the lookout,” he said.
No other injuries were reported. Hertzell said the incident appears to be a case of reckless driving.
“Doesn’t look like it was a smash-and-grab,” he said.
