A 19-year-old man accused of two sexual assaults in North Highlands in December is in Sacramento County Jail following his arrest in the San Diego area.
Ibrahima Wane was arrested Friday in connection with a violent attack and sexual assault that occurred Dec. 20 near Watt Avenue and A Street in North Highlands. A 68-year-old woman was forced into her home by a stranger after returning home from a walk. She assisted detectives in developing a composite image of her assailant for public release, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department news release.
Sheriff’s officials said detectives also have connected Wane with a similar attack at Watt Avenue and Peacekeeper Way that occurred Dec. 31 after a stranger pulled the female victim off her bike and attempted to sexually assault her.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Wane. Sheriff’s officials said he was transferred Thursday to the Sacramento County Jail, where he is being held on suspicion of eight felony crimes related to the two incidents. His bail is set at $2 million.
