The death of a man at a residence in a rural area of southern El Dorado County is being investigated as a homicide.
El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 3200 block of Sand Ridge Road about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday and found a man who was dead. The man was identified as 55-year-old Pete Thomas.
Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Tom Murdoch said that because the investigation in ongoing, the department is releasing few details about the case. There had been rumors on social media of shots fired in the area, but he said any reports that a firearm was involved in Thomas’ death were unfounded. Murdoch declined, however, to disclose any information regarding the circumstances or cause of death.
