There were no injuries late Friday when a car crashed into three high-pressure commercial gas mains on the 200 block of Harding Boulevard in Roseville, shearing off gas pipe and prompting authorities to close the road.
Firefighters alerted surrounding residents but none reported smelling gas, Roseville fire communications officer Rob Baquera said Saturday. Pacific Gas and Electric crews shut off the gas to repair the lines.
The car’s driver was nowhere to be found when officers responded to the crash. Later, officers arrested Damian Anthony Martin, 26, of Sacramento, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Roseville Police Department spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said Martin could be looking at a hefty bill since those convicted of DUIs can be held responsible for the costs of accidents. In this case, multiple emergency and utility crews worked through the night, she said.
