Gas line break prompts evacuation of South Natomas apartments

A ruptured natural gas line that prompted the evacuation of apartment residents South Natomas was capped Tuesday.

The break in the 3-inch gas line occurred during construction about 9:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Azevedo Drive near Truxel and San Juan roads, the Sacramento Fire Department reported. The break at the Riverglen apartments required residents to be evacuated until a fix could be made by utility crews.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes about 10 a.m. after the leak was capped.
