Deputy’s traffic stop turns up firearms and stolen property in El Dorado County

A traffic stop in El Dorado County led to the arrests of two people on stolen property and concealed weapon charges.

A deputy stopped a car in the 6200 block of Pleasant Valley Road between Shingle Springs and Diamond Springs about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for a traffic violation. A woman, in the car, Nalana Omega, 31, of Placerville had an unregistered Glock handgun in her purse, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Omega was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a stolen firearm. She was also booked drug charges.

Passenger Rafael Cardoza, 27, of Diamond Springs, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen computer that was found during a check of the car. The computer was stolen from Santa Cruz.

Also found in a backpack was a revolver stolen from Citrus Heights. Mail and bank checks found in the car are also believed to have been stolen.
