The former president of Humboldt State University will fill in at Chico State while its president recovers from surgery.

Chico State’s President Paul Zingg underwent heart bypass surgery March 15.

Until Zingg can return to work, California State University Chancellor Timothy White has appointed retired Humboldt State president Rollin Richmond to temporarily lead the Chico campus.

Richmond retired last year from Humboldt State last year after almost 12 years as president, according to a Chico State press release. Richmond said that Zingg has told him that he is doing well in recuperation from surgery.
