An El Dorado County middle school student was arrested Wednesday after bringing an Airsoft gun and ammunition onto the campus.
Administrators at Pleasant Valley Middle School, south of Placerville, were informed that the student had a weapon and detained the youth until sheriff's deputies arrived, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.
Deputies found that the boy had an Airsoft gun in his backpack and a few rounds of live ammunition in his pockets, the news release said. The student had not made any threats against the school or other students and did not have access to any firearms, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The student was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of possessing ammunition on school grounds, the news release said. The youth's name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
