Two school districts in another Sacramento-area county are going online in the fall
Two Placer County school districts plan to start the school year online.
Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District announced Wednesday evening all 6,800 of its students will return to distance learning at the start of the school year.
Roseville City School District, which has 20 schools, is expected to recommend that students start the school year with distance learning at its Thursday night board meeting.

Dry Creek Joint Elementary, which serves students in Antelope and Roseville, also shifted the first day of school to Aug. 10 to allow teachers to prepare high-quality distance learning for its students.
“We recognize the significant impact school closures have on our entire community, students, families, and staff,” read a statement from the district. “Dry Creek will continue reassessing plans and working collaboratively with public health and education agencies toward safely resuming in-person instruction as health conditions allow.
District officials anticipate students will continue learning online through the end of September.
Distance learning will look different than the spring, including changes in daily attendance, live instruction, grading, assessments, learning new material and restorative practices.
The district also announced it will distribute more Google Chromebooks and materials to students who need additional resources.
Students who enrolled in Connections, the district’s home-based program, can continue with the program throughout the school year.
On Wednesday, the Sacramento County Office of Education announced all 13 of its school districts will return to distance learning in the fall. Those districts include Elk Grove Unified, Sacramento City Unified, San Juan Unified, Natomas Unfiied, Folsom Cordova Unifed and Twin Rivers Unified
