Water outage closes some El Dorado County schools for the day, district officials say
Schools in Pollock Pines are closed Monday due to a water issue, school district officials said in an early-morning announcement.
Pat Atkins, superintendent for Pollock Pines Elementary School District, wrote that schools would be closed Monday “due to a water outage,” according to a message posted on the district website.
“At this time we have no estimated time for water to be restored,” the message continues. “Sorry for the inconvenience.”
The two-campus district is made up of Pinewood Elementary School and Sierra Ridge Middle School, which are on opposite sides of Highway 50. Nearby high school campuses in El Dorado Union High School District remained closed Monday for their final day of spring break.
A spokesman for the El Dorado Irrigation District, which serves Pollock Pines, said the outage resulted from a water line break early Monday morning.
“That break was isolated and water service should be running as normal,” spokesman Jesse Saich said in an emailed response just after 8:30 a.m.
The two Pollock Pines schools, however, will remain closed for the day.
