The students rallied on the campus at around noon, after the end of their fourth-period class. They marched from the campus on 14th Avenue to Sacramento State, a distance of about 1.5 miles.
“It’s important for me to march because my parents went through all this struggle to give us a good future, and the fact that Donald Trump wants to take that away from us — I find that idiotic,” said Leydi Ayala, a junior.
High school staffers followed the students in vehicles, instructing them to stay off the busy street.

Bystander Beth Pearsall, of Sacramento, flashes a peace sign as students from Hiram Johnson High School stage a walkout Tuesday to protest President Donald Trump and his adminstration. “I like that they’re being active. I like that they’re speaking the truth. I love that they’re fighting for something they believe in and I think when we see people like them we promote peace,” she said.
