Power outage forces Cosumnes River College to go remote through Saturday

Power outage

Cosumnes River College has moved all in-person classes and campus services to remote operations through the end of the week because of a power outage affecting the south Sacramento campus, college officials said.

After assessing the outage, the college said Wednesday morning that classes would remain remote through Saturday. The Elk Grove Center and the Child Development Center were also closed, college officials said.

College officials said the outage was caused by a localized equipment official at the Valley Hi/North Laguna campus. The power disruption also affected phone and some internet service, according to the college.

Students were advised to check their Canvas course pages and emails from instructors for instructions on how classes would continue. Faculty and staff members were directed to coordinate operations remotely.

Friday is the last day to drop a full-semester classes to receive a refund, the school said, an action that can be done online.
