Twin Rivers seeks applicants for school board vacancy

Applicants hoping to fill the trustee seat vacated by Cortez Quinn in the Twin Rivers Unified School District have until 4 p.m. Dec. 2 to file paperwork.

Twin Rivers trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to solicit applications for the Area 5 seat, which serves North Natomas and Robla. The appointee will serve the final two years of Quinn’s four-year term.

Quinn, 47, resigned last month after pleading no contest to a felony count of conspiracy to obstruct justice in a paternity case and two misdemeanors for illegally taking gifts and loans from a school district employee.

Board members will hold a Dec. 1 public forum at Regency Park Elementary School to hear what qualities residents would like to see in the new trustee. In a subsequent special meeting, the board will review applications and interview candidates in open session. Copies of applications will be made available to the public.

That meeting is set for Dec. 4, but a follow-up meeting could be held Dec. 11, if needed. The new board member will be sworn into office on Dec. 16.
