Elk Grove Unified kindergarten registration begins Tuesday
Registration for Elk Grove Unified kindergarten and transitional kindergarten in the 2015-16 school year begins Tuesday morning.
Children are eligible for kindergarten if they are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Students can enroll in transitional kindergarten if they turn 5 between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. Students must live within the district boundaries.
Families who already have students attending Elk Grove Unified schools will receive priority registration for track schedules at year-round schools, according to a press release from the district. Elk Grove Unified’s 40 elementary schools include 14 on a traditional calendar, 13 on a modified traditional calendar and 13 on a year-round calendar.
Parents can begin registering at 7:30 a.m. at their neighborhood elementary school.
According to the district website, parents registering a student for kindergarten and transitional kindergarten should bring proof of residence in the form of one of the following: a property tax receipt; a mortgage statement; or a rental/lease agreement. Parents must also bring one of the following indicating current residence: motor vehicle registration; driver’s license; court documents; two months of utility bills; two months of rent payment statements; or documentation from the Department of Human Assistance.
School office staff will give parents a packet that is time-stamped and dated, with families receiving priority on a first-come, first-served basis if a campus reaches capacity.
Parents must then submit the completed registration packet, child’s immunization record, birth certificate and proof of residence by Feb. 2.
