Linda Katehi timeline: UC Davis chancellor's resignation follows controversy, missteps
The resignation of UC Davis Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, marked the end of a tenure that began in August 2009 and was characterized in part by controversy, beginning with the notorious 2011 pepper spraying of peacefully protesting students, through Katehi’s misjudgment about serving on corporate boards, the university’s efforts to sanitize its history by scrubbing the Internet of critical coverage and upheaval surrounding university employment of Katehi family members.
That body of missteps led to apologies by Katehi, vows to do better, student protest, calls by leaders for the chancellor’s ouster, her being placed on leave and, ultimately, her resignation.
