Oh baby, that used to be a hospital
Demolition of Sutter Memorial Hospital on F Street in East Sacramento continued Wednesday.
More than 300,000 babies were born at the city’s venerable “baby hospital” between 1937, when it opened, and August 2015, when the hospital’s operations moved to Sutter Health’s midtown campus, with its new white tower beside the Capital City Freeway.
Developers plan to build houses on the old hospital site amid East Sacramento’s grid of older homes and tree-lined streets.
