Teens can work out for free this summer at Planet Fitness – and possibly win a scholarship
Need a reason to get your teen out and exercising? What if it had a possible financial incentive?
Planet Fitness is opening its doors this summer to high school-age teens for free, with each teen who signs up automatically entering a scholarship sweepstakes as part of the company’s Teen Summer Challenge.
From May 15 to Sept. 1, teens 15-18 can work out free by visiting any Planet Fitness location to sign up. Teens under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign up.
Teens can also take free fitness classes through the program.
“Planet Fitness’ Teen Summer Challenge offers a solution for teenagers eager for an opportunity to stay active during the summer when school sports programs, gym classes or after school activities wind down,” the announcement said.
There are eight Planet Fitness locations in the Sacramento area, according to the company’s website.
By the end of summer, 51 teens across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., will be randomly selected for a $500 scholarship, and one teen randomly will receive $5,000.
“New research shows that 91% of teens want to stay active over the summer, and that’s why Planet Fitness is offering teens a safe space where they can get their sweat on in a healthy way,” the company said in a news release.
