CVS Health increasing number of drive-thru coronavirus test sites in Sacramento area

Eight more Sacramento-area CVS Health pharmacies are set to begin offering COVID-19 tests at drive-thru locations, starting Friday.

Tests will only occur at drive-thru windows. CVS employees will monitor each patient as they “self-swab” their noses.

“All of the swabbing will take place in the patient vehicle in order to maintain the safety of the patients, as well as those of us in the store,” said Amy Winchell, CVS director of retail operations.

To confirm eligibility, patients must register in advance. CVS will offer testing for patients who meet the eligibility guidelines as mandated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

CVS Health opened its first local drive-thru testing sites at two Sacramento-area stores last week: 8101 Greenback Lane and 1350 Florin Road.

The expansion is part of CVS Health’s broader push to open some 1,000 testing sites nationwide by the end of the month. It will bring the total number of CVS testing locations in California to over 100.

The following Sacramento-area locations will now have drive-thru testing:
