VSP Vision Care is offering free eye exams and new glasses this week to Sacramento residents who qualify, with a special focus on veterans and their families on Thursday, World Sight Day.
Services are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday at VSP’s Rancho Cordova campus, 3333 Quality Drive. The three VSP Mobile Eyes clinics will be at the site to serve adults and children.
To qualify for a free eye exam and glasses, if prescribed, adults and children must have a Social Security number, a family income no more than 200 percent of the federal poverty level, and no vision insurance or eye care through a VSP program in the last 12 months, according to a VSP news release. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
To date, through Eyes for Hope Outreach programs, such as VSP Mobile Eyes, and partnering organizations including America’s VetDogs and Optometry Giving Sight, VSP Global businesses have invested nearly $167 million in free eye care and eye wear for close to 915,000 adults and children in need, officials report.
