Dignity Health opens new express primary care health clinic in Elk Grove
Dignity Health Mercy Medical Group has opened a new express primary care clinic in Elk Grove after two years of planning.
The clinic, located at 8259 Laguna Blvd., Suite 100, opened Wednesday in the Laguna Gateway shopping plaza, in a space that previously housed a Sprint store. It’s next to SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and the Vitamin Shoppe.
The clinic offers walk-in and same-day care, along with scheduled appointments. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays, except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rob Marchuk, market president of Dignity Health Physician Enterprise in Sacramento, said the clinic was designed to provide more care services to residents of Elk Grove and surrounding areas of southern Sacramento County.
“Elk Grove is one of the fastest growing communities in the Sacramento area, and so Dignity Health has been dedicated here,” Marchuk said.
The Elk Grove location is Dignity Health’s second express clinic, following one in Roseville. The express model is meant to help meet growing demand for same-day care.
“It’s about primary care access,” Marchuk said. “We all know that there’s a shortage in primary care and that patients can’t always get in to see a primary care physician.”
The clinic provides services like pediatric care, vaccines, physicals and treatment for illnesses. It also offers virtual visits.
Dr. Bianca Roberts, chair of family medicine and urgent care at Mercy Medical Group, said the goal is to treat patients quickly near where they live and serve as a bridge between traditional primary care and urgent care, offering tests, screenings and minor procedures.
“We can test for COVID, flu, RSV, we do urinary tests, we do STD screening — we do all those things that you could get in an urgent care, too,” she said.
The clinic does not offer X-rays on site, but referrals can be made to other Dignity Health locations.
Dignity Health is part of CommonSpirit Health and operates more than 400 care centers in California, Arizona and Nevada.
