A service will be held on Nov. 4 for former UC Davis Chancellor Larry N. Vanderhoef, who died last week at the age of 74.

Vanderhoef, who served as chancellor from 1994 to 2009, led the campus during a time of explosive growth. Enrollment soared and the campus added classrooms, labs and performance halls.

The celebration of life service for Vanderhoef is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 4 in Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center on campus. For those unable to attend, the service will be carried on the Web.

Vanderhoef died on Thursday. The cause of death was complications due to successive ischemic strokes.

The UC flag at the Memorial Union is flying at half-staff this week in his memory.
