Loaves & Fishes co-founder Dan Delany dies
Dan Delany, co-founder of Loaves & Fishes, has died, according to Sister Libby Fernandez, executive director of the Sacramento homeless services complex.
Delany and his wife, Chris, established Loaves & Fishes in the early 1980s, starting with a soup kitchen to serve Sacramento’s hungry. Over the years, the private charity, which accepts no government funds, has expanded to include other programs for homeless men, women and children at North C and 13th streets in Sacramento.
Fernandez said in an email that Delany died Wednesday. Services will be Oct. 31 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish with a reception after at the Loaves & Fishes Welcoming Center, 1351 North C. St.
