It’s pothole sweeps week in the unincorporated portion of Sacramento County and here are some facts about those annoying bumps in the road:

Potholes repaired each year: 41,000

Potholes repaired each month: 3,400

Annual cost for pothole repair: $2.8 million

Repair cost per pothole: $68

Residents are encouraged by the Sacramento County Department of Transportation to report potholes. Residents in the unincorporated portion of Sacramento County can call 311 or 916 875-4311.

The county-wide sweeps week effort to fill potholes began Monday in Arden Arcade. Potholes are typically tackled within 72 hours, according to the county.
