Headed to Spain? New airline goes from Oakland to Barcelona for $149
Anyone looking to fly from California to Spain now has a new, low-budget option to consider.
Level, a passenger airline just launched as part of International Airlines Group, began operating a non-stop, one-way flight from Oakland to Barcelona on Friday with fares as low as $149, as announced in an IAG press release from March.
How does that rate stack up against competitors? The majority of flights from Oakland to Barcelona listed on Google Flights for the rest of June are priced between $1,000 and $2,500 and involve one or two stops. The non-stop Level – operating as “Iberia for Level” for now – is listed at $200 on the site for most of its flights.
Level will operate two Airbus A330s, with the Oakland-Barcelona flight offered three times a week as well as a Los Angeles-Barcelona flight offered twice weekly. Flights from Barcelona to the Dominic Republic and Argentina will begin later this month.
The airline plans to expand to other European cities after starting in Barcelona.
