Why you will encounter lane restrictions on Highway 160
The state Department of Transportation reports that motorists should prepare for overnight construction activity and lane restrictions through the summer on a portion of Highway 160 in the Delta.
Construction crews will be working seven days a week from West Sherman Island Road to Highway 12 through July 31, according to Caltrans.
Motorists can expect overnight alternating lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Fridays through Sundays, Caltrans reports in a news release.
The first traffic-interfering work will begin Thursday, when crews begin grinding off the old pavement for northbound and southbound lanes.
The work is the first phase of a $4 million project to resurface areas of Highway 160 to south of Walnut Grove. Other work includes replacing electrical loops, crack sealing, metal beam guardrail repairs and striping, according to Caltrans.
