Commuters can expect delays on westbound Interstate 80 north of Loomis on Friday morning after a collision caused a traffic jam.

California Highway Patrol Officer David Martinez said a spinout on the highway at Penryn Road had temporarily blocked a lane of traffic. As of 8:15 a.m., the roadway was clear but the right shoulder was partially blocked, he said.

Traffic was backed up to Gilardi Road several miles away, Martinez said. It is unclear if there were injuries, he said.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office recommended that drivers use alternative routes.
