American Airlines has launched its first additional route departing from Sacramento since the COVID-19 pandemic, a nonstop flight to Austin, Texas.

Friday’s inaugural trip represented one of the longest operated by American’s regional carriers, according to a news release from the airline. American is the only carrier to offer service between the two cities with a first-class cabin.

The flight is operated through American Airlines subsidiary Envoy on a 76-seat Embraer 175 between Sacramento International and Austin-Bergstrom Airport.

The first customers traveling between the state capitals received branded cowboy hats before boarding their flight to the Lone Star State, a spokesperson with American Airlines said.
