Sacramento County intersection to close for up to five nights of construction
A Sacramento County intersection just south of Rosemont could close for up to five nights next week as crews continue work on a South Watt Avenue project.
The intersection of Fruitridge Road and South Watt Avenue, which borders the southeastern edge of Sacramento, will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Monday, according to the Sacramento County Department of Transportation. Work could continue through Friday.
Motorists will not be able to pass through the intersection but will still be able to access nearby businesses via driveways, officials said. Travelers in the area should use parallel north-south roads such as Florin Perkins Road and Hedge Avenue, or alternate east-west routes including Jackson and Elder Creek roads.
The construction is part of a project to add two traffic lanes, 6 miles of sidewalks and bike lanes, and turnouts for future transit stops. The project also includes improvements to five intersections and replacement of the Morrison Creek Bridge.
