Caltrans has reopened both lanes of eastbound Interstate 80 in the Sierra after a morning crash that sent at least one person to the hospital.
The crash occurred at 8:35 a.m. in the Castle Peak area, just west of Donner Summit. The driver of one vehicle was airlifted by helicopter from the scene. Officials closed all eastbound lanes for several hours after the crash, and set up vehicle detours.
The roadway was fully reopened at 1 p.m. Traffic was still backed up west for a short distance west of Soda Springs as of 2 p.m.
