A driver strike to improve conditions for Uber ride-service drivers is being planned for this weekend, starting at 5 p.m. Friday, according to posts on Facebook and UberPeople.net.
It is unclear how many Sacramento drivers might participate. A local organizer reached for comment Wednesday evening declined to speak on the record. Uber officials declined immediate comment Wednesday evening.
According to Facebook posts, strike advocates say that many drivers make less than federal minimum wage when costs of doing business are added. The group is calling on Uber to raise minimum fares and to include an additional tip option for riders.
