Emergency lane closures announced for northbound I-5 in Elk Grove area

The California Department of Transportation is advising motorists of emergency lane closures on northbound Interstate 5 in Elk Grove area beginning about 4 p.m. Friday.

The No. 2 and 3 lanes will be closed a half-mile north of Laguna Boulevard until midnight for emergency slab repair, according to Caltrans.

The No. 3 lane has been damaged and will require about 100 feet of concrete slab replacement, Caltrans reports. The repairs need to be done in dry conditions and completed before the next storm is forecast to reach the area late Friday or early Saturday, according to Caltrans.

Motorists are advised to expect delays or choose an alternate route.
