Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge to close for night construction this week
The Rainbow Bridge in Folsom, for many decades the main way over the American River into old town from Greenback Lane, will be closed at night this week.
Preparatory work prior to summer repaving of the deck will be done between the closure hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Friday. Motorists are encouraged to take the Lake Natoma Crossing.
The concrete-arched Rainbow Bridge is showing its age at nearly 100 years old. A $1.1 million mostly state-funded project will eventually provide a smoother ride for motorists.
The four-month program to finish the bridge work will include a complete bridge closure for one week in June, according to a city news release.
