Eastbound I-80 reopens near Boreal resort

The California Highway Patrol reports that eastbound Interstate 80 east of Boreal Mountain Resort has reopened, but warns travelers of heavy traffic.

Eastbound I-80 was closed about 2:30 p.m. due to multiple collisions.

It was snowing heavily on Donner Summit, according to the state Department of Transportation, and chain controls were in effect on several highways in the Sierra.
