Sacramento Fire Department crews are preparing to repair dock floats in Old Sacramento.
The dock is downstream from the Tower Bridge.
Crews used air monitors to check the oxygen in the floats on Monday to prepare for welders to fix leaks, said the Fire Department’s public information officer Chris Harvey.
Harvey said that one side of the dock sinks slightly deeper in the water, a sign of leakage in the floats. Crews were to pump air into the floats Tuesday to identify the leaks. The Fire Department will then use air monitors to ensure that the floats contain at least 21 percent oxygen, making them safe for welders to enter, Harvey said.
