Boarding a bus or train? Remember, RT fares are up

This is the first full week for the new fare increases for bus and light-rail rides on Sacramento Regional Transit.

The fares jumped an average 10 percent last Friday. The price for a basic, single-fare ticket increased from $2.50 to $2.75. Monthly passes went from $100 to $110.

The increases are the first at the agency since 2009. The increases represent one of several critical steps officials say they need to make to stabilize the agency. RT recently laid off 20 employees. Go to www.sacrt.com/fares16.stm for a complete list of fares.
